Location: Santa Monica, CA

Company Background: We are one of the largest Organic Medjool Date growers in California.  Our organic farms are based in the sunny Coachella Valley with their HQ based in Santa Monica.  Medjool Dates, also known as the king of dates, have been loved and appreciated for centuries for the incredible benefits and luscious taste.  Although the Farms have been well established, the initiative to sell and market our own Organic Dates is new.  We are a fast growing, healthy food start-up seeking to associate with those who share our passion and energy for spreading the word on the delicious nutritious benefits of Organic Medjool Dates.  Unlike many start-ups, we are will funded to fuel our growth.

Description: The Director of Sales, North American Retail will be at the forefront of strategizing, launching and establishing Joolies retail date syrup business in the natural channel and traditional grocery stores.  This dynamic role will be at the ground floor of launching a super healthy brand across the US and Canada.  You will need to bring a combination of strategic planning experience and a willingness to spend significant time in the trade opening accounts, managing brokers and growing distribution.

Primary responsibilities include creating pricing, promotional and channel strategies, calling on customer accounts directly, and building out and managing a network of distributors, brokers and merchandisers. The position requires strong sales skills and interpersonal dexterity to manage brand performance across the country. The position will report to the Chief Executive Officer of the company and will work closely with the founder and select board members.

Ideally you are co-located with us in the LA area, but the best person could be located anywhere in the US depending on the quality of the candiDate.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead all retail sales efforts, and design a growth strategy to reach nationwide distribution for the company’s product lines.
  • Develop pricing, trade, and activation strategies for each product line and major retailer.
  • Call on retail accounts directly and build out broker networks.
  • Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement.
  • Manage the broker team and resources to deliver profitable growth.
  • Manage the use of budgets and sales forecasting tools.
  • Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements.
  • Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function.
  • Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions.
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership.
  • Work closely with marketing to establish successful support, channel and partner programs.
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities.
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop relationships.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong sales experience (5-10 years) with an emerging healthy natural brand
  • Ideally, the candidate has experience in The Natural Channel.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to meet with retailers and support sales presentations.
  • Existing network of buyers at key retailers.
  • Sense of positive urgency in executing everyday responsibilities.
  • Fluent knowledge of MS Office applications; ability to create good sales decks & sell sheets.
  • Strong organizational, communication and inter-personal skills for a fast-paced brand.
  • Strong communication ethic in getting back to customers, suppliers and the internal team.
  • Strong understanding of customer activation tools and opportunities.
  • Ability to act strategically and tactically in the performance of the job.
  • Support the company’s leadership with needed information to facilitate decision-making.
  • Bachelors of Business Administration in marketing or related field preferred but not required.

Supply Chain Coordinator – Joolies

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Description:  The Supply Chain Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Operations and provides operational administrative support to bridge the gap between sales, logistics and operations. As we begin to build out our Operational and Logistics functionality the Supply Chain Coordinator will help manage various aspects of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with 3PL team to oversee logistics management
  • Prioritize getting things done the right way to maintain brand, product, and most importantly; organic integrity
  • Build, maintain, and communicate inventory details to necessary departments
  • Track requests for samples and provide needed communication between sales and operations
  • Provide cross-team support before, during, and after all sales
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contract manufactures understanding lead times, production capability, as well as matching inventory to sales forecasts and order
  • Assist operations, sales and logistics with order management
  • Work with necessary stakeholders to facilitate international expansion at the order management level
  • Assist with order processing data in warehouse management system
  • Provide order processing support and visibility for finance and transportation operations
  • Drive analyses on operations projects and important strategic decisions
  • Identify operational weaknesses and help improve and innovate new processes to drive efficiencies across our business
  • Maintain job posting, filter resumes, and screen candidates for Logistics Team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply chain or related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in a data-driven
  • Proven capability to juggle multiple projects and hit tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills including extremely high attention-to-detail
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

Export Logistics Coordinator – Joolies

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Description: Daily activities will be the organizing and overseeing of international transactions from start to finish for export sales of agricultural products. Corresponding and working with domestic suppliers/manufacturers, domestic trucking companies and warehoused, international shipping carriers, and foreign buyers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate air or ocean shipments for export transactions of agricultural fruit.
  • Track order progress daily using company operational software.
  • Work with operations/logistics to produce and prepare orders correct and timely.
  • Work to ensure safe transport of goods to overseas buyer.
  • Update all parties to the transaction on dates and information needed to execute order correctly.
  • Prepare Bill of Lading instructions and File AES reports.
  • Ensure all organic requirements are maintained.
  • Update customer of all order issues as needed.
  • Prepare export documentation per transaction instructions and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with other company departments to ensure timely shipping.
  • Handle Customer Service Issues as needed.
  • Enter all order information in operating system timely and with a very high level of precision.

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Interest in International Trade and Global Affairs
  • 1 -3 years relevant work experience
  • Relevant industry experience a plus; i.e. Agricultural Product
  • Foreign language(s) a plus
